Ultraviolet light is used in hospitals and laboratories as an effect sanitizing tool against bacteria. When used in the home heating system it is also very effective against mold spores, viruses and other air born invaders. UV lamps can be mounted in either the supply or return duct, or both. In Michigan, since we use or furnaces more than our air conditioners, it is usually recommended that they be installed in the return air duct before the main filtration system.
